Hi, I’m Prophet, your little dog influencer in training and the official voice of the Scruffy Sisters. Here I share expert advice about photography, adventures, and the many things humans misunderstand. Grandma supplies the photographic evidence.
I keep telling Grandma that there are no longer any rules in photography. There are only results.
She looks dubious.
Nonetheless, it is true.
Photographs are everywhere these days. People no longer want to see the same old, same old. If you want to catch their attention, show them something different.
Today’s iPhones and photographic software make the possibilities almost endless.
Grandma is 84, so perhaps she cannot be expected to keep up with everything. Nonetheless, she should listen to me.
After all, Rory and I—mostly I, of course—taught her how to see and photograph magic moments.
Before we came into the picture, she was merely mediocre. She has improved considerably, although there is always room for more.
First, we taught her that carrying heavy mirrorless equipment was not practical when she had two energetic dogs on a leash ready to explore. That encouraged her to discover all the remarkable things an iPhone can do these days.
More importantly, we taught her to see.
When I pull in one direction and Rory pulls in the other, Grandma becomes stuck in the middle. She has no choice but to stop and examine whatever we have chosen for her to notice.
Sometimes she struggles to understand the assignment, but eventually she gives in and photographs according to our instructions.
Naturally, we have also provided her with much better subject matter. We are excellent models, and any photograph with us in it is automatically a winner.
Rory looks a little dubious when I say that.
She is entitled to her point of view, but fortunately, Rory is easy to ignore.
It is a good thing Grandma is improving because I have hired her as the official photographer for my new blog.
I am not paying her, of course. But Rory and I are not charging her tuition for her photography education either.
It seems like a fair arrangement.
Dad handles the funding.
We all have our responsibilities..
Last night, we met another scruffy on our walk.
I think it is plagiarism.
Rory insists we should form a group.
Grandma asked if this is what I meant.
She says the photograph perfectly captures how unusual the whole situation was.
For once, I'm stomped.
What do you think?
Personally, I’m not sure it was entirely intentional.
Apparently, confusion is contagious.
